Darius
A. Garstka - I was born and raised in Poland. In 1979, I graduated from
the Technical High School with a diploma in computer science. The next
two years I spent in Antwerp, Belgium working in the GM plant. I returned
to Poland in 1981 and was accepted to the University of Warsaw, economic
and social science faculty. I graduated in 1986, with a master's degree
in economics and social sciences. I immigrated to the United States in
1990, at age 30 with my wife and son. The same year I started my new career
in Orange County with the Social Services Agency as an Eligibility Technician,
Eligibility Supervisor, and Social Services Supervisor. My career was
changed from business services to human services. In 1994, I was encouraged
by other Poles to join the Polish-American Congress. I am currently the
Director and the Secretary of the PAC Southern California. In 1998 I started
taking human behavior classes at Fullerton College to have better understanding
of working with needy people.
